Medinilla magnifica is a species of tropical plant in the genus Medinillae, in the family Melastomataceae. It is one of the most beautiful discoveries to date among the 521 species of medinillae and one of the rare species that can be grown as a houseplant. It was baptized by José de Medinilla y Pineda, who was governor of the Mariana Peninsula in the 19th century. “Magnifica” comes from Latin and means “magnificent”.
