
Begonia maculata is a species of flowering plant in the Begoniaceae family. This begonia originating from Brazil, more particularly from the Atlantic forest, is cultivated and marketed under the name of tamaya begonia, tamaya or bamboo begonia. The plant is perennial up to 10°C and can reach 1.50 m. It prefers a shade or partial shade exposure and flowers from March to October. Its propagation is done mainly by stem cuttings with a node.
