Eucalyptus form a very rich group of plants of the Eucalyptus genus, of the Myrtaceae family and which until 1995 included the Corymbia genus. Eucalyptus are native to Australia, so they are native to the Australian continent, where they dominate 95% of the forests. Over six hundred species were recorded in the 1960s, and over 800 in the 2002s. Eucalyptus trees have a range of adaptation mechanisms and are fast growing, allowing them to be present in many environments . We also use, less frequently, the word gum tree to speak of eucalyptus.
