Asclepias tuberosa, commonly known as tuberous milkweed, is a plant species in the Apocynaceae family.
It is a perennial herb reaching 0.3 to 1 meter in height, with clustered orange or yellow flowers from early summer to early autumn. The leaves are spirally arranged, lanceolate, 5-12 cm long and 2-3 cm wide.
Some wild plants have very reddish orange flowers. It is uncertain whether this is due to soil mineral content, genetic differentiation of ecotypes, or both. One cultivar, ‘Hello Yellow’, typically has more yellowish flowers than regular examples of this plant.
