Beaucarnea Recurvarta

Beaucarnea recurvata, the Beaucarnea, Bottle tree or Elephant’s foot is a species of the Ruscaceae family. It is often grown as a houseplant in temperate regions. But in pot its growth is slow. It is sometimes called a bottle tree because of the swollen base of its trunk.

Like most succulents, Beaucarnea needs a sunny position and well-drained soil to avoid the risk of rot. In winter, the temperature should not drop below +10°C and should not be watered. In summer, the plant enjoys high temperatures, around 30°C, with abundant watering. The plant resists a break in the stem supporting the tuft of leaves: a new stem appears after a delay.
