Pachira aquatica is a species of tropical tree in humid regions known under the vernacular names of Marce, Guyana chestnut, Guyana hazel, Malabar nut, river cocoa, money tree and water pachi tree. It is native to Central and South America, where it grows in swamps.
The name Pachira comes from the Guyanese Creole pakira designating the peccary, because this animal eats its fruits.
