
Cornflower (Cyanus segetum) in Switzerland, France, Belgium and the Aosta Valley, or Cornflower in Canada and Belgium, is a herbaceous plant of the Asteraceae family (formerly Compositae) originating mainly from Asia and the international commercial exchanges having allowed a fast world export of this one. (The first having taken place towards Europe and North America). Very often a weed in cereal fields, this species is one of the messicole plants that are becoming increasingly rare. It is sometimes called Audifoin, Barbeau, Blavelle, Bleuet des champs, Casse-lunettes or Fleur de Zacharie.
