Sansevieria is a genus of 70 species of succulent plants, usually herbaceous. It belongs to the Liliaceae family (or to the Dracaenaceae family) according to the classical classification. According to the phylogenetic classification this genus was classified in the family Ruscaceae, but with the classification APG III (2009) this family became invalid and this genus is currently in the family Asparagaceae.
These species are native to tropical regions of Africa or sometimes Asia.
