Echinocactus grusonii is one of the best known species of cactus. It is part of the genus Echinocactus. It is dedicated to Hermann Gruson, German cactophile.
She is from the states of San Luis Potosí and Hidalgo in central Mexico. It is sometimes called “mother-in-law” or “mother-in-law’s cushion” because of its strong spines. Although easy to grow, it is threatened in its natural environment.
